Man City’s Rodri Bound for Barcelona
Yet another Manchester City player is set to depart Etihad Stadium, this time for the green plains of Spain’s Camp Nou.
According to reports as of Sunday, 16 August, FC Barcelona have agreed to sign City’s defensive midfielder, Rodri, for an eye-watering fee of £65.4 million.
Rodri’s new deal – which comes after he turned down a contract extension with the Citizens – will see him play for Barcelona over the course of four years. His transfer is expected to be completed in the coming days.
The 30-year-old Spaniard joined the English outfit in 2019. Between then and now, he scored 28 goals in 298 appearances across all competitions. He also helped them win several championships, including the 2025/26 FA Cup trophy.
In addition to his duties at the Etihad, Rodri also captained Spain to their second-ever FIFA World Cup victory back in July.
News of Rodri’s imminent departure comes three days after it was reported that his teammate, Tijjani Reijnders, was leaving City to join the Saudi Pro League outfit, Al-Qadsiah.
