Man United All Smiles After Defeating Arsenal 3-1
Manchester United defeated Arsenal 3-1 on Sunday, 4 September, ending the Gunners’ “perfect” start to the season.
Manager Erik ten Hag said that the first 10 minutes of the match at their home turf Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, England, were the “best we have played this season.”
The game opened fiercely, with a possible goal from Arsenal’s forward, Gabriel Martinelli, that would ultimately be dismissed by the Video Assistant Referee 12 minutes later.
However, the tone was set 35 minutes in when newly-signed midfielder, Antony, marked his debut with the Red Devils by scoring the first goal.
The game equalised at the 60-minute mark, as midfielder Bukayo Saka earned the first official goal for the Gunners. The satisfaction, however, was momentary as six minutes later, striker Marcus Rashford scored the second goal for Man United with an assist from Bruno Fernandes.
With the score at 2-1 in favour of the Red Devils, tensions grew for the away team. However, the third devastating goal came from Marcus Rashford once more at the 75th minute, assisted by midfielder Christian Eriksen’s quick footwork.
The match has pushed Man United back up to fifth place in the English Premier League rankings, after a rough start to the season.
