Manchester United Endures Miserable Week
Manchester United fans are having a rough time as their beloved club stumbles from one misfortune to another this week.
The Red Devils started the week with a last-minute, heartbreaking 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, 3 September, at Emirates Stadium in London, England.
Reports claim that two days later, United’s owners, the Glazer family, had not received an acceptable sales offer, leading to the decision to remove the club from the New York Stock Exchange – a move that sent its valuation into an expensive, $700-million nose-dive.
The Glazers hold most of the club’s capital – and nearly all its voting rights – but remain incredibly unpopular with its supporters, due to accusations of putting Manchester United into further debt while not allocating nearly enough resources to ensure it remains top-flight.
Additionally, by Wednesday, 6 September, the club released a statement acknowledging the domestic violence allegations against winger Antony, who stands accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
“As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse,” the communique concluded.
All eyes will be on Old Trafford as they navigate the stormy days ahead.
