Mangaliso Ngema Quits “Family Secrets”
Actor Mangaliso Ngema is leaving the television show, “Family Secrets.”
According to entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, Ngema – who played the lead character of Caesar Mokwena, a bank-owner bent on becoming the most powerful financier in the world – had quit the show.
Taking to Twitter last Friday, 11 June, Mphela shared a statement from the SABC, which reads: “Mr Ngema’s immediate resignation will enable him to attend a legal matter pending in the courts in relation to the sexual harassment allegations levelled against him.”
Last year, the actor was fired from the Sesotho telenovela, “Lithapo”, after his former co-star, Lorraine Moropa, accused him of sexually harassing her on set.
At the time, Ngema said that he would take “full responsibility” for the abuse that he directed towards Moropa.
SABC have confirmed that Ngema’s “Family Secrets” role will be recast; presumably, his replacement will be announced in due course.
