Marvel Drop Jonathan Majors Like a Hot Potato
Marvel Studios are eager to distance themselves from Jonathan Majors after the actor was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.
A jury in Manhattan, New York announced their verdict on Monday, 18 December, revealing that the 34-year-old film star had been found guilty of two misdemeanour counts of harassment and assault. Majors was, however, acquitted on two other counts of assault and aggravated harassment.
The altercation reportedly happened in March this year, as the former couple were travelling to Major’s apartment in Manhattan. Jabbari accused Majors of receiving messages from another woman, resulting in the two tussling over the cellphone.
Marvel have not yet announced if they’ll replace Majors – who stars as a central villain named Kang the Conqueror – or whether his roles will be rewritten.
Majors has previously featured in the series “Loki” and the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” film, and was scheduled to appear in at least two upcoming “Avengers” films, including an eponymous movie.
The actor could face up to a year in prison for his charges. Sentencing will be carried out next year, on 6 February.
