Mason Greenwood “Further Arrested” on Assault Charges
Manchester United forward, Mason Greenwood, is facing more charges related to sexual assault and making threats to kill.
Last Sunday, 30 January, 20-year-old Greenwood was detained by the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) on suspicion of rape and assault.
His arrest was prompted after a woman – who, under English law, remains anonymous – posted images and videos on Instagram, declaring them as evidence of Greenwood’s alleged physical violence against her.
On Tuesday, 1 February, the GMP released a statement, in which they declared that their detectives “had been granted further additional time to speak to a man in his 20s who was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault of a woman.”
“He continues to be questioned after magistrates authorised an extension until tomorrow, Wednesday 2 February,” the statement reads. “Following enquiries so far, he has since been further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.”
Greenwood has since been suspended from playing or training with United until further notice, and has also lost his endorsement with sportswear firm Nike.
