Messi Facing Possible Last El Clasico
The upcoming “El Clasico” clash between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF on Saturday, 10 April, could be Lionel Messi’s last appearance in the fixture.
The 33-year-old Argentine’s Barcelona contract is set to expire at the end of the 2020/21 season – after 30 June, he will be free to join any club of his choice.
The six-time Ballon d’Or award winner has not yet signed a new deal at Camp Nou, nor entered into negotiations with any club, at least until the end of the season.
With the ongoing uncertainty of what Messi’s decision will be, the Catalan Giants are reportedly worried about losing his skills to Chelsea as they have shown interest in scoring the football superstar.
Messi remains the top scorer in the history of El Clasico with 26 goals – Real Madrid’s Alfredo Di Stefano netted 18 goals – and this match will see him on par with Sergio Ramos for most appearances at 45.
