Michael Keaton Excited About “Beetlejuice” Sequel

After several fake movie posters and nearly four decades, a long-awaited sequel to “Beetlejuice” is finally happening with Tim Burton back in the director’s seat and Michael Keaton returning as the titular lead character.

While talking to an English entertainment news outlet on Saturday, 3 June, the 71-year-old actor shared his excitement about the upcoming follow up to the beloved 1988 comedy horror and working again with his frequent collaborator and friend.

“[Burton] and I were talking about it years and years ago, never telling anybody … We both agreed, if it happens, it has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time,” Keaton enthusiastically shared.

He also added that the two main creative forces of the movie intend to keep true to the original’s formula, especially with “improvising and riffing” and making use of “handmade stuff”. With special effects and writing covered, the film will also see familiar faces return such as Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara.

“It’s the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in I can’t tell you how long,” Keaton Mused.

“Beetlejuice 2” is officially set for release on 6 September 2024.
