Mid-Year Transfer Window Approaches

In just over a month the mid-year English Premier League (EPL) transfer window will open, potentially shaking up established teams and giving the underdogs a chance to recruit some new talent.

The exchange interval is expected to open on 14 June and is scheduled to close two-and-a-half months later, on 1 September, keeping in line with the EPL’s European counterparts as per their agreement.

Many pundits are hoping that the upcoming transfer period will be more active than the January window, in which many EPL teams were particularly conservative due to crackdowns as per Financial Fair Play regulations. According to reports, the top 20 EPL clubs only spent a total of €112 million at the time.

Tottenham Hotspur were responsible for the biggest transfer in the last window, having signed 22-year-old defender, Radu Dragusin, from Genoa for €25 million.

Thankfully, things are already looking promising as several clubs have made moves to secure new players. Brentford have already set the bar high, having reportedly reached an agreement with Club Brugge to sign 22-year-old forward, Igor Thiago, for €33 million.
