Monday Motivation: 27 March
Got the Monday blues? Reclaim the day and set the tone for the entire week with these helpful, motivational tidbits:
“There are no shortcuts to the top of the palm tree” – African proverb
Today, we’re taking inspiration from proverbs originating in the African continent, and we’re starting with this poignant gem.
If you want to attain success, there’s no ladder to take you from the bottom of the trunk and straight to the topmost branch. To get to the top, you must carefully negotiate each and every limb, gaining confidence and experience with each limb you conquer.
And once you reach the crown of the palm leaves, you’ll find that the climb was worth every minute.
“For tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today” – African proverb
Now is the time to take control of your present so that you can take charge of your future, which is already closer than you think.
Whatever the future brings, it is up to you to work hard now so that you can meet these challenges head on. Don’t leave it to the last minute, otherwise you’ll forever be wishing for yesterday to come back.
“A person with too much ambition cannot sleep in peace” – African proverb
Even with all that drive, you need to take a breather every now and again, otherwise your physical and mental health could suffer for it.
We live in a high-pressure world where success, prosperity and achievements are incredibly emphasised (and equally expected). While it is good to have high ambitions for yourself, you don’t want to sacrifice all your “me-time” so that it becomes “no time”. Nor do you want to move head-long into the next task so soon after finishing the first without taking a break.
Rest yourself, take each day in your stride, and remember that with every achievement you attain, treat yourself as a reward!
