Mourinho Explains Heated Touchline Exchange with Klopp

Jose Mourinho has revealed what he told Jurgen Klopp after the final whistle of Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night, 16 December, at Anfield.  

At the end of the match, Mourinho and Klopp were seen exchanging words in a heated touchline argument.

Mourinho appeared to say something to his counterpart, which prompted the Liverpool boss’ response, while the Portuguese manager looked less than impressed.

The 67-year-old tactician has now revealed the details of their conversation. He slammed Liverpool’s performance and reprimanded Klopp’s touchline behaviour, saying that if he were to behave in such a manner, Mourinho would have been sent off.

Mourinho said: “I told him [Klopp] the best team lost and he disagreed, but that’s his opinion.”

He added: “If I behave the same way he does on the touchline, I do not stay there. That’s animated? For some reason, I am different.”

The German manager dismissed Mourinho’s suggestions, insisting that his side deserved their win and to leapfrog their visitors at the top of the Premier League table.
