Mzansi Hip-Hop Loses Another Star
The South African music industry is mourning the loss of rapper Tumi Tladi, who reportedly passed away in Johannesburg on Sunday, 10 July.
Just a few hours before he is believed to have died, the rapper Tweeted: “You only Truly [sic] appreciate your loved ones when there’s a countdown, the small things don’t matter anymore.”
A minute later he also posted: “Love like they are leaving tomorrow.”
Tumi Tladi – real name Itumeleng George Tladi – is known both locally and internationally. During his life, the artist shared a stage with Joan Armatrading, and performed at Idols SA 2011, the MK Awards, and the Los Angeles Carnival.
Other highlights of his career include choreographing with Willow and Jaden Smith in 2012.
While the cause of his death remains unknown at this stage, the 30-year-old rapper was still releasing music right up until the very end.
His most recent release was a luxurious music video for his track, “Presidential”, which features fellow rapper Nadia Nakai and producer MustBeDubz.
Details of the rapper’s funeral are expected to be revealed at a later date.
