Mzansi Mourns Local Rapper Costa Titch

Tributes have been pouring in for South African rapper, Costa Titch, who passed away unexpectedly after collapsing on stage at a festival.

The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Constantinos Tsobanoglou, was performing at the Ultra Music Festival in Johannesburg, Gauteng on Saturday, 11 March, when he fell over.

Video footage on social media shows that he was helped up by a colleague, after which the rapper was able to finish his song before he fell over once again, this time off the stage.

Emergency responders on the scene took Tsobanoglou to a nearby hospital, where he would later pass away. The cause of death has not been revealed as of yet.

“Death has tragically knocked at our door. Robbing us of our beloved son, brother and grandson,” said his family in a statement via his official Instagram account on Sunday, 12 March.

The rising artist had recently signed a global deal with Konvict Muzik. Record label boss, Akon, also shared a tribute to his “brother” on the same day, saying: “He was more than just an artist.

“He was a brilliant superstar and hard-working man with a kind heart which endeared him to all [those] around him. I was convinced that he was going to make an impact in this world,” Akon added.
