Mzansi Mourns the Loss of Mpho Sebeng
Tributes are pouring in for South African actor Mpho Sebeng, who passed away on Sunday, 5 May, from a car accident.
The 31-year-old television star was in Potchefstroom, North West, when the tragic accident occurred during the early hours of the morning.
“The family of the South African entertainer, Mpho Sebeng, are saddened to confirm, to the public and media, that their son has indeed passed away,” the family said in a statement released to the media shortly after his passing.
“Whilst the family appreciates the immense outpouring of love and condolences, the family requests some space to process the news,” the statement added.
In response to the sad news, fans, colleagues and friends have shared their condolences and memories across social media.
Even the South African government shared a tribute for Sebeng on Twitter: “Our nation mourns the loss of a bright star. May his legacy inspire future generations of artists to constantly evolve.”
Actor Itumeleng “Itu” Bokaba was shocked by the news: “I don’t understand this life anymore, like God and I are having some serious beef right now,” Bokaba also tweeted.
As of yet, details about the funeral or memorial service have not been made public but are expected to be announced in the coming days.
