Napoli Sack Manager Garcia to Bring Back Mazzarri

Napoli have fired Rudi Garcia and brought back former boss, Walter Mazzarri, until the end of the season.

The Serie A champions shared the news via Twitter on Tuesday, 14 November, as they welcomed their new leader with a regal photograph.

Fifty-nine-year-old Frenchman, Garcia, was appointed in June this year to replace Luciano Spalletti, who stepped down on a high note after he led the Italian club to their first Serie A league title in 33 years in the 2022/23 season.

Unfortunately, Napoli have had a particularly disappointing 2023/24 season with Garcia at the helm, having lost three of their opening 12 league games. However, their latest embarrassing 1-0 loss to 17th-placed Empoli on Sunday, 12 November, appears to have been the icing on top of the flopped cake.

As usual, fans have been vocal about their frustrations with Garcia, who was met with a chorus of boos before the match kicked off at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy.

Sixty-two-year-old Mazzarri is no stranger to the club, having managed Napoli from 2009 to 2013. However, the Italian will have a challenge as he comes into the position with the team sitting in fourth place, and falling fast from the image of champions.
