Nicki Minaj’s Mom to Sue Hit-and-Run Driver
The mother of Nicki Minaj is seeking damages in her multi-million dollar lawsuit against the man who stands accused of killing the rapper’s father.
On 12 February, Robert Maraj died after he was struck by a vehicle while walking along a road in Mineola in Long Island, New York. The driver immediately fled the scene after the collision.
Five days later, the driver – identified as Charles Polevich, aged 70 – was arrested, and charged with leaving the scene of an incident and tampering with physical evidence. He is currently out on bail after pleading not guilty to the hit-and-run.
Now, according to court papers filed earlier this month at Nassau County State Supreme Court, Carol Maraj is suing Polevich for “not only [being] irresponsible and negligent, but more concerned about running away [from the scene] and hiding than seeking help.”
She is seeking damages amounting to $150 million.
Minaj has not yet made any public comment regarding her father’s death or her mother’s lawsuit.
