Orlando Pirates Thump Golden Arrows 2-0
After a luckless, winless streak of performances, Orlando Pirates finally copped a DStv Premiership win over Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban on Tuesday, 18 October.
Since 4 September, the Buccaneers failed to garner any victories under their belt, but their fortunes have seemingly changed for the better, thanks to the efforts of midfielder Monnapule Saleng.
Saleng shot the ball into the back corner of the net in the fifth minute; 18 minutes later, he struck again from the penalty arc past Arrows’ goalie Nkosingiphile Gumede, who was left stunned in both instances.
Orlando Pirates went on to win the match 2-0. Additionally, they rose to fourth place on the standings with 19 points; as for Golden Arrows, they currently occupy eighth place with 13 points.
Pirates are set to take on Mamelodi Sundowns in an MTN8 semi-final second leg this Saturday, 22 October – will they come out on top again or will they return to their floundering ways?
