Pirates, AmaZulu Draw 1-1 in Betway Premiership Clash
Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in their Betway Premiership clash on Wednesday, 12 August.
Playing at Kings Park Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, the result saw both teams compromise their early-season momentum.
Winger Tshepang Moremi opened the scoring for Pirates in the seventh minute, capitalising on a goalkeeping error from Usuthu’s Faveur Kouassi.
Throughout the majority of the first half, the Buccaneers prevented AmaZulu from scoring. Fortunately for home fans, the hosts drew level just before half-time, courtesy of a penalty from midfielder Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya.
The second half saw both sides fighting to find an opening. Alas, despite further opportunities for both sides – including a disallowed AmaZulu goal and a Pirates effort hitting the post – neither could find a winner.
Ultimately, the match ended in a 1-1 tie. As a result, Orlando Pirates have moved to second place in the Premier Soccer League rankings with four points. As for AmaZulu, they now occupy fourth place, also with four points.
