Porto Embarrass Juve 2-1
Juventus were left reeling after F.C. Porto outfoxed them 2-1 at Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday night, 17 February.
Iranian striker, Mehdi Taremi, opened up the scoreboard for the Portuguese home side just two minutes into the UEFA Champions League game, with a goal off a Juve back pass error.
Taremi’s team-mate, Moussa Marega, contributed to the tally – and the pressure on the visitors – when he scored at the 46th minute.
Football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, played his first game for the Catalans, but he will remember the match for how the referee denied him a late penalty after he dramatically appealed for an apparent collision with Zaidu Sanusi in the Porto box.
However, the Video Assistant Referee pointed out that the 36-year-old forward was mistaken, which resulted in him shouting at the match official after the final whistle.
Juve managed to pull one consolation goal back as Federico Chiesa struck powerfully with just eight minutes left on the clock, but it was not enough for the visitors to get back into the game.
