PSG Secure Spot in Champions League Semi-Finals
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will be singing the praises of their star player, Kylian Mbappé, who helped them claim their spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals last night, Tuesday 16 April.
The French club travelled to Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain to take on their hosts in a riveting match, which left fans sitting uncomfortably on the edge of their seats before the visitors claimed a 4-6 aggregate victory.
Barcelona striker Raphinha claimed the first point of the match at the 12-minute mark, bringing a cheer from the onlooking fans.
It wasn’t until five minutes before the halftime whistle that PSG was able to equalise the scoreboard as Ousmane Dembélé silenced the homeside with a goal.
Midfielder Vitinha earned the second point for PSG in the 54th minute, putting the visitors in the lead for the second half of the game.
Mbappé’s powerful penalty kick brought the scoreboard to 3-1 just seven minutes later, with a deafening disappointed silence emanating from the home side’s stands.
The 25-year-old striker sealed the French club’s spot in the semi-final of Europe’s top competition at the 89-minute mark with one final goal, setting PSG up to face Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, 30 April.
