PSL in Shock Over Sudden Passing of Zondi

South African football is mourning the tragic loss of Sinamandla “Sgora” Zondi, a promising 22-year-old defender for Durban City FC, who passed away on Tuesday, 22 April.

Zondi collapsed during the warm-up ahead of a Motsepe Foundation Championship match against Milford United at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Despite receiving immediate medical attention and being rushed to Chatsmed Garden Hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly before 8:00 PM.

The Premier Soccer League expressed its deep sorrow over Zondi’s untimely passing, extending heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the Durban City FC community.

In tribute, a moment of silence will be observed at all Motsepe Foundation Championship, Betway Premiership, and DStv Diski Challenge fixtures this week.

The Banana Boys described Zondi as more than just a talented footballer; he was a beloved teammate, friend, and inspiration to many.

The club has chosen to honour his memory by proceeding with their upcoming fixture as scheduled, demonstrating resilience and unity in the face of tragedy.
