Rangers Hand Lifetime Bans After UEFA Sanctions

Rangers FC have announced lifetime bans for individuals responsible for displaying a discriminatory banner during their Europa League match against Fenerbahce earlier this month.

“Keep woke foreign ideologies out – defend Europe”, the banner stated.

The club’s action on Tuesday, 25 March, follows UEFA’s decision to impose a suspended closure of the Copland Stand at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland, which will be enforced if further offences occur within the next two years.

UEFA also fined the Scottish club approximately £25 000 for the incident, alongside additional penalties exceeding £23 000 for issues such as throwing objects, blocking passageways and improper team conduct.

The club strongly condemned the banner, labelling it “shameful” and “embarrassing”, and urged supporters to protect the Teddy Bears’ reputation.

Furthermore, Rangers are addressing fan behaviour at domestic matches, confirming that groups involved in using pyrotechnics during the Old Firm clash at Parkhead will face consequences.

The club’s ticket allocation for future Premier Sports Cup fixtures at Hampden Park will be reduced by 500, with the potential for further reductions if similar incidents occur.

“We reiterate our call for all supporters to back the team in the correct manner, and to challenge those who seek to further damage the good name of Rangers,” the club firmly declared in an official statement.
