Ronaldo Scores First New Season Goal
Cristiano Ronaldo has finally arrived to the Europa League party for Manchester United after scoring his first goal of the season during their 2-0 win over FC Sheriff.
The 37-year-old Portuguese forward’s second start of the 2022/23 season saw him scoring at the 37th-minute mark against the Moldovan team on Thursday night, 15 September.
He has had a cloud hanging over his head, with past reports claiming he was looking to exit Old Trafford during the transfer window, but after a goal drought for several games, Ronaldo has found his groove again and his club could not be happier.
Man U boss, Erik Ten Hag, could not hide his excitement in a post-match interview: “He’s totally committed to this project, totally committed to this team, totally involved.”
He added that more goals can be expected from Ronaldo as he improves his fitness, among other aims – including claiming his 700th club goal soon.
