Ryan Reynolds Talks About His Intense Anxiety
Everyone looks at Ryan Reynolds and thinks “what a funny and awesome guy”, but have no idea of the nervousness behind his boy-next-door smile.
Talking to an American news outlet on Sunday, 27 February, the 45-year-old actor opened up about his life-long struggles with anxiety.
“I’ve had anxiety my whole life really. And you know, I feel like I have two parts of my personality, that one takes over when that happens,” the “Deadpool” star admitted.
He detailed how he would get stage fright before a performance, but his then “cool” personality would kick in and things would flow smoothly.
Reynolds has been candid about his worries in the past, making an Instagram post during Mental Health Awareness month in May 2021.
In the caption, he wrote: “I know I’m not alone and more importantly, to all those like me who overschedule, overthink, overwork, over-worry and over-everything, please know you’re not alone.”
He hopes that his mental health advocacy makes him a good role model for his three daughters he shares with his wife, Blake Lively.
“Part of my job as a parent is to model behaviours and model what it’s like to be sad, and model what it’s like to be anxious, or angry. That there’s space for all these things,” he said.
