Sadio Mané Bids Farewell to Liverpool
Senegalese footballer, Sadio Mané, has officially signed a three-year contract with German club, Bayern Munich, following his successful medical today, Wednesday 22 June.
The 30-year-old was with Liverpool for six years and had one year left on his contract with them.
During his time at Anfield, Mané helped the team win championships in the English Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and the Carabao Cup, making him a firm fan favourite.
Now, this new transfer deal is said to have cost Bayern Munich £35.1 million, partially due to his great success at the club. According to his agent, there were other clubs also interested in Mané, but his focus on the German club was clear from the start.
“For me, it was the right club at the right time,” Mané said. “It is one of the biggest clubs in the world and the team is always fighting for all the titles.”
Bayern Munich’s chief executive, Oliver Kahn, seems equally excited about the transfer, saying: “With his outstanding performances and his great successes at the highest international level over many years, there are very few players like him in the world.”
