Samuel L. Jackson Enjoys Birthday Surprise on Broadway Stage
Samuel L. Jackson enjoyed his 74th birthday while performing on Broadway.
The well-loved actor spent his special day on Wednesday, 21 December, starring in “The Piano Lesson” at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York City, New York.
The show was Jackson’s first in well over a decade, and the occasion was made doubly outstanding when the audience began applauding: Reverend Al Sharpton and a handful of friends approached Jackson with a large cake, and began congratulating while the birthday boy could do nothing but smile from ear-to-ear.
The stage production is a Main Stem revival of August Wilson’s original work, which just so happens to hold special significance for Jackson as he was an understudy for the role of Boy Willie when it went to Broadway in 1990.
Four years later, he would go on to star and find mainstream success in Quentin Tarantino’s widely acclaimed crime film, “Pulp Fiction”.
