Takeoff, Legendary Member of Migos, Has Died
The Hip Hop community is mourning the loss of Takeoff – one third of the Grammy-nominated group Migos, alongside Quavo and Offset – who was fatally shot in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 1 November.
The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kirsnik Khari Ball, was said to be playing dice at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Houston Police, two other unnamed people were also shot on the premises and taken to a local hospital. Rapper Quavo – who is Takeoff’s uncle, and was with him at the time – is said to be unharmed.
Tributes have been pouring in from the rapper’s peers and fans.
Chance The Rapper tweeted: “It goes without saying that I’m broken hearted and confused this morning. But I have to say Take [sic] is a one of a kind friend that would always acknowledge you, always make sure you were good and would always tell you to keep God first.”
Canadian rapper Drake also reminiscenced on Twitter, saying: “I got the best memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touch. That’s what I’ll focus on for now. Rest easy, Space Man.”
