Thapelo Mokobodi Joins Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates have struck a deal to sign Stellenbosch FC midfielder, Thapelo Mokobodi.

On Wednesday, 29 July, a statement was published via Pirates’ official website confirming that the 23-year-old would be joining the team for the upcoming Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.

Mokobodi joined Stellenbosch FC in August 2025. In total, he made 28 appearances across all competitions during his solitary PSL season with the club.

His contract with the Bucs is set to run for three years, though his salary has yet to be disclosed. Additionally, he will play in the number 33 jersey for the upcoming campaign.

“I am pleased to be here and look forward to meeting the rest of the team,” said Mokobodi, per the statement. “It’s a big opportunity to play for such a club and I am ready to get going. I would like to make a meaningful contribution to this great institution.”

The 2026/27 PSL season begins this Saturday, 1 August. As reigning champions, Orlando Pirates will kick off the proceedings with a match against Milford FC – here’s hoping we’ll see Mokobodi in the starting line-up!
