Tiger Woods Involved in Car Crash
Golfing star, Tiger Woods, is “currently awake, responsive and recovering” from leg surgery following his car crash on Tuesday morning, 23 February.
According to reports, the 45-year-old golfer was involved in a single vehicle roll-over collision at the border of Rolling Hills Estate and Rancho Palos Verdes in Los Angeles County, California.
He was extracted from the vehicle by firefighters and paramedics using the “jaws of life” rescue tool, and was subsequently transported in an ambulance to Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre for immediate surgery.
Per a statement on his Twitter account, Woods received surgery on his injured lower right leg and ankle, which included the insertion of a rod, and a “combination of screws and pins.”
Thanking the first responders and acknowledging his supporters’ well-wishes, the statement added that there would be no further updates on Wood out of respect for his privacy.
Local authorities say that the golfer did not seem to be under the influence of alcohol or any substances, and that the downward-sloping road he was driving on is known for its “high frequency of accidents.”
