Trevor Noah Steals The Show at 2023 Webby Awards
The people have spoken: comedian Trevor Noah has been hailed as one of the internet’s favourite personalities after he walked away with several accolades in the 27th annual Webby Awards.
The prestigious awards ceremony honours excellent online content which challenges cultural, social, and entertainment norms based on votes from millions of people from around the world.
During the awards ceremony – which was held in New York City, New York on Monday, 15 May – Noah was praised as the Best Web Personality/Host for his Between the Scenes segment on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah”.
“Wow, what an honour! Thank you!” the 39-year-old South African tweeted the following day, with an image of the seven trophies.
The comedian often spoke about South Africa and his family during the popular segment – which also won Best Content Series.
Alongside the two abovementioned awards, “The Daily Show” took home five other trophies on the day, including the comedy category for the “America’s Door Problem” segment which delved into the not-so comedic topics of mass shootings and gun control.
Noah left the renowned talk show after seven years at its helm on 8 December 2022. A new permanent host has not yet been chosen.
