Tuchel Hails Chelsea’s Terrific Talent Toppling Real Madrid
Chelsea head coach, Thomas Tuchel, is singing all the way to the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final after his “hungry” team beat Real Madrid 2-0 on Wednesday night, 5 May, at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues never let up the pressure throughout the match, with their first goal coming off Timo Werner’s boot at the 28th minute with an easy header into a goal box that was missing its keeper, Thibaut Courtois.
Los Blancos looked threatening while searching for an equaliser but failed to capitalise, which resulted in a Mason Mount, close-range tap-in at the 85th minute, securing Chelsea’s spot in the finals.
Tuchel was ecstatic in the post-match interview: “It is a fantastic achievement and big congratulations to the team.”
The 47-year-old German manager remained realistic as he added: “We haven’t won anything yet. We’ve got two massive cup finals and hopefully we can win them.”
Chelsea are now poised to meet Manchester City at Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on 29 May for the UCL title.
Meanwhile, the two clubs are expected to play this Saturday, 8 May, for their own English Premier League game.
