UEFA Champions League Semi-Finals Underway
The first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final began last night, Tuesday 9 May, as Manchester City and Real Madrid went head to head.
Both teams had a strong start to the match, which was held at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain. However, the hosts found their feet when striker Vinícius Júnior claimed the first goal in the 36th minute, with an assist from his teammate, Eduardo Camavinga.
Man City midfielder, Kevin de Bruyne, equalised the game at the game with help from some quick footwork by his teammate, İlkay Gündoğan, at the 67th-minute mark.
Madrid head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, was clearly frustrated with the goal and with referee Artur Soares Dias for failing to consult with the Video Assistant Referee system. The Italian coach was slapped with a yellow card for his insubordination.
The two teams will face off against each other again in the second leg of the semi-finals next Wednesday, 17 May, at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England. Predictions favour the hosts to win.
AC Milan and Inter Milan will also get their chance in the first leg semi-finals tonight, Wednesday 10 May, at San Siro Stadium in Milan Italy. The two teams appear to be evenly matched.
