Unidentified Club Enters Race for Bucs’ Maswanganyi

There are reportedly transfer talks between Orlando Pirates and an unidentified Bahraini club over the signature of midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi.

According to several soccer outlets as of Sunday, 23 August, the Buccaneers are currently in talks with the aforementioned club over a potential transfer.

Details regarding Maswanganyi’s transfer fee, as well as his proposed salary and length of contract, are not yet known.

Joining the Sowetan outfit from SuperSport United in 2023, Maswanganyi has scored 28 goals in 119 games across all competitions.

The 28-year-old forward was notably absent from the Bucs’ MTN8 semi-final match against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 22 August, which has set the rumour mill in motion about an imminent departure.

While Chippa United and Egyptian side Pyramids FC were also apparently keen on signing Maswanganyi, it remains unconfirmed whether negotiations took place or yielded any results.

Orlando Pirates will face Sekhukhune again tomorrow, Tuesday 25 August, in a Premier Soccer League fixture. It is unknown if Maswanganyi will form part of the starting line-up or be missing in action once more.
