Vieira “Really Disappointed” over Palace-Arsenal Tie
Coach Patrick Vieira is feeling the burn of frustration’s fire after Crystal Palace drew 2-2 with Arsenal on Monday, 18 October.
Eight minutes into the game, a strike from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put Arsenal in the lead. Forty-two minutes later, Palace evened the score, thanks to a goal from Christian Benteke.
Come the second half, Odsonne Edouard’s shot hit the back of the net, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Victory seemed to be a certainty for Vieira’s side – that is, until a 95th-minute goal from the Gunners’ Alexandre Lacazette resulted in the draw.
In a post-match interview, Vieira lamented: “It was so close but we have been saying that a little bit too often. I am really disappointed because the way the team came back in the second half, they deserved to win the game.”
He added: “I am frustrated for [my players], they were brave and showed character. We have to put our sleeves up and put our bodies on the line. We were really unlucky today, it is the way it is, but I believe there is more to come.”
