Vieira’s Crystal Palace Extends Losing Streak
Coach Patrick Vieira has notched up a third loss in a row after Crystal Palace lost 1-0 to Watford in a Carabao Cup match on Tuesday, 24 August.
Following back-to-back losses to Chelsea and Brentford, Vieira – who was appointed manager of Crystal Palace in July – sought to get himself and his players their first win against Xisco Muno’s side at Vicarage Road.
Alas, Watford came out on top after forward Ashley Fletcher scored at the 86th minute, allowing the club to progress th the third round of the Carabao Cup.
In the post-match interview, Vieira lamented: “We have to change our mentality when we are in the opposition half. We have to be more aggressive and determined to take those chances because today we didn’t.”
He added: “There is a lot of frustration on our side because I think we created enough to win. I am disappointed because upfront we have to improve ourselves. If we want to win football matches, we have to score goals and this is not the case.”
