Wednesday Gaming – More Lay-Offs, Annapurna, Tencent and MORE!

– Rocksteady, the British developer of the low-selling shooter game, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League”, reportedly laid off six employees at the end of last year.

– Former staff members of Annapurna Interactive, who left the renowned video game publisher last September during a “mass exodus”, have reportedly founded a new company. Additionally, as part of a deal with Haveli Investments, they will be assuming control of the indie label Private Division’s portfolio, which was sold by Take-Two Interactive last year.

– Tencent Holdings, a Chinese multinational conglomerate with major investments in numerous video game companies such as Epic Games and Riot Games, has reportedly been blacklisted by the US Department of Defense due to its alleged ties with the Chinese military.

– In response, Tencent has since denied these allegations, which include claims of being categorised as a weapons supplier to the Chinese military. The conglomerate plans to appeal the US Department of Defense’s decision.

– Sony has revealed its intentions to turn “Helldivers 2” and “Horizon Zero Dawn” into films, and is also working on an anime adaptation of “Ghost of Tsushima”.
