Catch up on the latest news, rumours and announcements from the world of video games, tech and entertainment:
– The recently released gameplay trailer for “WWE 2K24” features boxer Muhammad Ali in his prime, which all but indicates that he may be released as a DLC character for the upcoming game in the near future.
– In other “WWE 2K24” news, wrestler Brock Lesnar has been removed from the game’s “40 Years of WrestleMania” cover art, amid his alleged connections to a sex trafficking lawsuit launched against former WWE chairman, Vince McMahon. Instead, the cover art shows an enlarged likeness of John Cena in Lesnar’s place.
– Speaking of John Cena, his superhero character Peacemaker (the star of the eponymous 2022 TV show) will join the roster of “Mortal Kombat 1” on 28 February. He was announced alongside Quan Chi, Omni-Man, Homelander, Ermac and Takahashi Takeda as the first batch of DLC characters in July last year. Cena will reprise the role, providing both Peacemaker’s voice and likeness.
– The gaming world has lost a legend in the form of Laralyn McWilliams. The 58-year-old game designer and producer, known for her work as lead designer of “Full Spectrum Warrior” and as creative director on “Free Realms”, passed away on Monday, 5 February following her battle with cancer.
