Zwane Dismisses Relegation Fears for AmaZulu
AmaZulu FC co-coach, Arthur Zwane, has shrugged off worries that his team will be relegated this season.
Last month, it was announced that Zwane will co-manage the Durban-based outfit alongside former Richards Bay FC coach, Vusimuzi Vilakazi.
AmaZulu have lost four of their last five matches since the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season began on 14 September. They are currently in 15th place on the Premier Soccer League rankings with three points, putting them at risk of relegation.
In a recent interview with a local soccer publication, a bemused Zwane shared his thoughts on the early remarks regarding Usuthu’s potential relegation.
“I know a lot of people will always say we’re fighting relegation; how can you fight relegation when you still have 25 games left? There’s still a lot to play for,” the 51-year-old tactician explained.
“You start fighting relegation when you’re left with five games, according to my understanding. It also depends on how other teams are doing, and the gap between you and other teams, then you can start talking about relegation.”
Zwane emphatically added: “Right now, we are not even thinking about relegation. We are thinking about improving the team and challenging ourselves because we are in this league to compete.”
