Arteta Agrees to New Contract to Extend Stay at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has reached an agreement on a long-term contract extension to stay with English Premier League (EPL) champions Arsenal.

The 44-year-old Spaniard – who succeeded Unai Emery in December 2019 – was entering the final year of his previous deal, signed in September 2024. His new terms are expected to commit him to Emirates Stadium for at least another three years, potentially taking his tenure past a decade and positioning him until 2030.

The extension cements Arteta as one of the world’s best-paid managers, offering a substantial pay increase from his previous £10 million annual base salary, which included £5 million in bonuses.

Now the longest-serving manager in England’s top four divisions, Arteta guided the Gunners to their first EPL title in over two decades alongside a Champions League final appearance. His trophy tally also features a Football Association Cup and three Community Shields.

Reflecting on negotiations, Arteta stated: “I think we are all very much aligned; whenever the time is right, we’ll get that done.”

Official signing and formal announcements are expected to be finalized during the upcoming international break, aligning with Arsenal’s wider commitment to securing key personnel long-term.
