3 Tips for Emotional Wellness
You should take care of your emotional health the same way you take care of your body, because your body responds to the way you think, feel, and act.
While there’s no way to get rid of life’s stresses, here are three ways to cope with stress to improve your emotional wellness and overall health:
Find the Positive
While it’s important to deal with negative feelings, it’s also important to focus on the positive things in your life. Use a journal to keep track of things that make you feel happy or peaceful, and for all those things you are grateful for.
Don’t Brood
Brooding is damaging to your mental health, as obsessing over negative things will only make you feel worse. As soon as a negative thought enters your mind, distract yourself by doing something that needs you to concentrate, like reading a book or doing a puzzle.
Express Yourself
Keeping your feelings of sadness or anger inside will only add to your stress and anxiety. Find healthy, creative ways through which you can express your feelings, such as writing in a journal, confiding in someone close to you or taking an exercise class.
