Amy Schumer Gives Blundering Apology to Nicole Kidman

Amy Schumer has dug herself into a hole with her latest Instagram posts, first mocking Nicole Kidman then apologising for it with a jibe at Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.

The 42-year-old stand-up comedienne caused an uproar on Monday, 11 September, when she shared a picture of Kidman at the US Open Tennis Championships via Instagram. In the caption, Schumer wrote: “This how human sit [sic],” in reference to the actress sitting in a very poised position.

However, many people were less than amused, as they slammed her for “being mean” and “cyberbullying” Kidman in the now-deleted post.

Schumer returned to the social media platform to issue an apology on the same day, saying: “I want to apologise to all the people I hurt posting a photo of Nicole Kidman and alluding to her being an alien.”

While the apology seemed somewhat sincere at first, Schumer’s next words only dug her further into the public’s bad books: “I will be asking the cast of “That 70s Show” to write letters advocating for my forgiveness.” The second post was also taken down shortly afterwards.

The comment was made in reference to the recent outcry against Kutcher and Kunis for writing character letters in favour of a light sentence for convicted rapist and their former co-star, Danny Masterson.
