Arsenal’s Title Hopes Dwindle After Man United Draw

Arsenal’s English Premier League title challenge suffered another setback as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United yesterday, Sunday 9 March.

Declan Rice salvaged a point with a late equaliser at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, England, but the Gunners now sit 15 points behind league table leaders Liverpool, leaving their championship ambitions hanging by a thread.

Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead in first-half stoppage time with a well-struck free-kick that raised questions about Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya’s positioning. The 29-year-old Spaniard, however, redeemed himself in the second half with a series of crucial saves, preventing United from securing a win.

The visitors, missing key attackers Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz, once again struggled in front of goal, relying on makeshift options. Rice’s 74th-minute strike, set up by Jurrien Timber, offered a lifeline, but the Gunners lacked the cutting edge to snatch all three points.

The result leaves Arsenal battling for Champions League qualification rather than the title, with second place now their most realistic finish. Meanwhile, United remain inconsistent, and are placed 14th as their struggles continue.

With Liverpool in control, Arsenal’s dream of a first league title in over two decades years looks all but over.
