Could Makhehlene Makhaula Leave Orlando Pirates?
Orlando Pirates midfielder, Makhehlene Makhaula, has only been part of the club for nine months, but he might already be looking to explore greener pastures.
After joining the Buccaneers from AmaZulu FC in January on an 18-month deal, Makhaula has made 14 appearances across all competitions, of which three saw him as a starting member and the rest as a substitute coming off the bench.
Now, according to reports, the 33-year-old – who has eight months left on his current contract – may just leave the club for another, if coach Jose Riveiro doesn’t give him enough game time.
Sizwe Ntshangase, Makhaula’s agent, hinted as such in an interview with a local soccer outlet on Tuesday, 17 October.
“Makhehlene is a professional player who knows he must fight for his place,” said Ntshangase. “He continues to maintain a professional attitude.”
Makhaula’s contract includes an option for an extension once it expires in June next year. However, it’s up to Riveiro and the club’s higher-ups to decide whether he’s worth keeping or releasing.
