Cristiano Ronaldo Apologises for Fan Outburst
Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has issued an apology for pushing a fan’s phone to the ground after the club’s 1-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, 9 April.
In a video that went viral online, Ronaldo appeared to knock down a cellphone from the hand of a spectator, who was trying to film the forward who was making his way back to the dressing room after the game.
Fans were disappointed with CR7’s attitude towards them, although his emotions clearly got the better of him following a tough and disappointing afternoon for Man United.
Later that day, Saturday, 9 April, the fifth-time Ballon d’Or award winner took to Instagram to apologise to the supporter that he offended.
Ronaldo wrote: “It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing. Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient, and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.”
He added: “I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship.”
