Erik ten Hag Stays on With Man United Until 2026
Erik ten Hag has signed a contract extension with Manchester United, keeping him as manager until 2026.
Despite the speculation about his future, and with the club reportedly considering other candidates like Chelsea former bosses, Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel, United decided to retain Ten Hag after he led the team to an FA Cup victory against Manchester City in the final match of the 2023/24 season.
The 54-year-old Dutch manager had one year left on his contract, but the extension ensures his tenure at Old Trafford continues for two more years. His role as “first team manager” remains unchanged despite recent management restructures, including Dan Ashworth’s appointment as sporting director.
Ten Hag expressed his satisfaction with the extension and emphasised the ongoing effort to meet Manchester United’s high expectations.
“Looking back at the past two years, we can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression,” he stated, while acknowledging the need for further hard work for English and European titles.
