Everton, Leicester and Leeds Face Relegation Battle
As the end of the 2022/2023 English Premier League (EPL) season draws near, three teams are desperately fighting to avoid relegation.
The current season will officially come to a close on Sunday, 28 May, while the 2023/2024 season will kick off just over two months later, on 12 August. Southampton have already had their relegation fate sealed, as they’re currently sitting with a measly 24 points on the EPL table.
Everton, Leicester City and Leeds United, however, will need to duke it out in England on Sunday to see which one of the three will remain in the coveted top tier of the English league. Opta Sports, a British analytics company, has carefully evaluated the chances of each team.
Everton will be testing their strength against Bournemouth at Goodison Park Stadium in Liverpool. With the Toffee’s 33 EPL points, Opta Sports believe it’s unlikely they’ll leave the league, giving them a 19% chance of relegation.
Leicester City will also be taking on West Ham at King Power Stadium Stadium in Leicester. The hosts currently have 31 EPL points but the analytics company have been more severe with their predictions, giving them an 84% chance of relegation.
Leeds will be hosting Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds. The chances look grim for the hosts, who also have 31 points, as they’ve been given a 97% chance of sliding out of the coveted league.
