Franco Feels Confident Ahead of AmaZulu-Sekhukhune Clash
AmaZulu FC coach, Pablo Franco, is maintaining a positive attitude ahead of his team’s match against Sekhukhune United tonight, Wednesday 13 December, at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban.
Last Wednesday, 6 December, AmaZulu lost their Premier Soccer League (PSL) match-up against Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0; prior to this defeat, they also lost two matches against TS Galaxy and Stellenbosch.
As a result, Usuthu are sitting in 14th place on the PSL rankings with 15 points – just one place above the dreaded relegation zone, which is currently occupied by Richards Bay and Cape Town Spurs.
In a pre-match interview, Franco stated that despite these defeats – which he attributed to “factors that we cannot control because of the referees” – AmaZulu are stronger than they appear.
“If there is something we cannot complain about is the commitment and the professionalism of the players, as they want to get better and better every single day,” he declared. “That’s why we are improving so much as a team.
“Most of the previous games, we have been playing well and football has not been fair to us. We deserve to have more points than the ones we have and I think the position doesn’t reflect the way we are doing.”
