Grealish’s Season Ends Early After Foot Surgery

Jack Grealish’s 2025/26 season has ended prematurely following surgery for a foot stress fracture on Monday, 9 February.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who is currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City, sustained the injury during a January victory over Aston Villa. The fracture was only discovered after Grealish sought treatment for a separate calf issue.

Toffees manager David Moyes noted the unexpected diagnosis, stating: “He didn’t come in [complaining] about his foot. He had a kick on the calf and we thought he’d be OK.”

Moyes described the loss as a “real pity” for a player who had recorded two goals and six assists in 22 appearances. The injury also dismantles Grealish’s hopes for an England call-up ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Taking to Instagram from his hospital bed shortly after the operation, the midfielder admitted he was “gutted”, but promised: “I know for sure I will come back fitter, stronger and better than before.”

Everton now face a dilemma regarding a £50-million permanent transfer option. While Pep Guardiola praised Grealish’s “massive influence” at Goodison Park, Moyes insisted it is “far too early” to decide on the playmaker’s long-term future.
