Hutchison on Van de Beek: Leave Man United Now
Midfielder Donny van de Beek ought to leave Manchester United after a lacklustre season.
That’s according to former footballer-turned-pundit, Don Hutchison, who recently spoke to a British sports outlet about Van de Beek, who joined the English Premier League (EPL) team from AFC Ajax last August on a five-year deal worth £35 million.
However, the 24-year-old Dutchman has been struggling for playing time in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team, scoring only one goal across 19 appearances last season. This year, he has only played six minutes on the pitch in five EPL appearances.
Hutchison lamented the situation, suggesting that Van de Beek should hang up his United shirt and move onto greener pastures before it’s too late.
He said: “I think if you’re Donny van de Beek now, you’ve got to have the conversation with your agent, who’s then gonna have the conversation with the manager … because you’ve got a World Cup coming up in 18 months time.”
Hutchison concluded: “He cannot afford just to be sitting on that bench, playing in the League Cup midweeks, and playing odd minutes and getting brought on and getting taken off.”
