Kaizer Chiefs Lose 1-0 to Richards Bay
Kaizer Chiefs once again proved their mediocrity following a 1-0 loss to Richards Bay FC on Sunday, 21 April.
Playing at King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, the Glamour Boys – despite their 63% possession of the ball – came up short against their hosts, who kept their visitors on their toes throughout the first half.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first, with both teams preventing each other from scoring.
Come the 64th minute, though, Richards Bay struck: skipper Simphiwe Mcineka intercepted a corner kick from teammate Sanele Barns and successfully converted it into a header.
In the end, the Natal Rich Boys triumphed with a 1-0 victory over Amakhosi.
This loss marks Chiefs’ third successive DStv Premiership defeat. As such, they are sitting in tenth place on the Premier Soccer League rankings with 30 points.
Can Cavin Johnson’s men redeem themselves when they take on SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo next Saturday, 27 April? As always, watch this space!
